About Cohabi
What Led to the Creation of Cohabi?
Hi, I'm Irving Barajas Founder & CEO of Cohabi. When I was a kid, my family and I made the move to the United States from Mexico.
My experience living as undocomented immigrant in the U.S. came with many challenges, finances being on the top of that list. Growing up, I often shared homes with roommates or family due to our tight budget.
Despite the financial barriers that forced me to drop out of college, I maintained focus and became a self-taught software engineer. Through my employment at various tech startups I saved enough money to buy a rundown house in Pomona, CA.
After doing some research, I decided to rent out my spare bedrooms to supplement the cost of owning a home. This decision not only helped me avoid being "house poor" but also proved to be successful enough to acquire 4 properties in just three years.
Managing these properties was tough and I wasn't satisfied with the property management tools that were available. They were outdated, complex, and costly. All of this finally led to the creation of Cohabi — a simple, intuitive, and affordable solution for managing shared living spaces.
